The number assigned to the parcel to identify it for tax purposes

The James City County � Real Estate Assessment Division Parcel ID numbering convention follows that used by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Taxation.

MAP PAGE:

The first three digits represent the map page:  The last of the three digits represents the quadrant of the block as represented by the first two of the three digits.

 SUBDIVISION OR ACREAGE:

5010100009

The fourth and fifth digits indicate if the parcel is situated in a subdivision, or if it is an acreage parcel:  Acreage parcels are �01� and subdivisions are assigned numbers from �02� forward, on each page, as they are recorded.

The seventh through tenth digits, as well as any letters that follow, represent the individual parcel number within the subdivision, or in the case of an acreage parcel, on that map page.
